Fundamentalists want to live forever in heaven

OBSERVERS have been commenting on what appears to be the child-like positions taken by particular preachers in the letters column.

Some righteous people have responded by saying they were warned not to give up their earliest understanding of God. As a small child, who they imagined God was and what he represented did not evolve or was not part of their intellectual and spiritual ripening. Now, as adults they refuse to mature, to “depart,” from their childhood indoctrinations.

The most rationally challenged member of these fundamentalists gives us the background to their beliefs by explaining that the bible must always be taken literally.

To be faithful to God, the holy word must never be interpreted, says the “pastor without proof.” God means what He says; no divine inspiration is required when reading the Bible.

These fundamentalists want to live forever in heaven and so they choose to remain intellectually childish. The “pastor without proof” knows that Jesus was being literal when he said in Luke 18:16, “Permit the children to come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

That is why certain “pastors” insist on displaying juvenile antics in the letters pages. Fundamentalists have been born again and they don’t intend to ever grow up.

The Kingdom of God belongs to people who are children, you see, if you take Jesus at his word, (literally) as the “pastor” insists we must.
