Bravo smashes century, Nagamootoo snares six for 101

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Exciting young left-hander Darren Bravo smashed a superb unbeaten hundred to give Queen’s Park CC control against Moosai Sports in their Trinidad and Tobago Premier Division match on Saturday.

Bravo stroked 110 not out and joined West Indies batsman Runako Morton in boosting Queen’s Park CC’s score to 310 for five in reply to Moosai’s 145 all out at Queen’s Park Oval.

Queen’s Park took control early against the visitors as Rishaard Harris (5-27) and Test off-spinner Amit Jaggernauth (2-36) combined to restrict Moosai to their small total.

Bravo, a 2008 West Indies Under-19 player and younger brother of West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, then led the home side’s reply with his century and got good support from Morton (64) and Justin Guillen (52) as Queen’s Park CC took a 165-run first-innings lead.

Non-nationals Mahendra Nagamootoo, Gairy Mathurin and Kenroy Peters made headlines for their teams in other games.

At Presentation College, Guyanese leg-spinner Nagamootoo snared six for 101 for Central Sports as leaders PowerGen piled up 333 all out against them.

Central Sports were struggling at 60 for four in reply at stumps with St Lucian Mathurin undefeated on 34.

Playing for Clarke Road, Vincentian Peters scored 34 and took three for 23 against home team Munroe Road.

Clarke Road scored 136 all out and bowled out Munroe Road for 44, with veteran spinner Mukesh Persad (5-8) linking up with Peters to wreck their innings.

Clarke Road were 37 for one in their second innings at the close, 129 runs ahead.
