LESTER Alvis stamped his authority on a strong field to win the 10th Annual Citizens Bank Medal Play golf tournament in ideal conditions for golf at the Lusignan Course on Saturday.
Alvis won the best net and gross prizes up for grabs in the tournament that attracted 37 golfers – the largest field so far this year.
Playing off a 15 handicap Alvis, Country Manager of local furniture giant Courts recorded a gross score of 78 to finish with a net 63.
The second position was determined on a count-back after Citizens Bank Chairman Clifford Reis and Attorney-at-law Jerome Khan both ended on a net score of 69.
Reis, playing off a handicap 24 for a gross 93, secured the second position after he performed better on the back nine while Khan who played off a handicap 17 recorded a gross 86 was adjudged third.
Dr Ram Singh won the Nearest to the Pin prize.
Citizens Bank Managing Director Eton Chester said his company was pleased to sponsor the tournament once again this year and promised a bigger event next year.
He said Citizens Bank has been involved in sponsoring golf at Lusignan for the past 10 years and for the bank’s next anniversary celebrations there will be a much larger tournament.
Also present at the presentation ceremony were Citizens Bank Director George McDonald and assistant manager of Credit and Marketing Tonia Griffith.
Club captain Khan expressed gratitude to Citizens Bank for its generous support over the years.
He announced that this weekend’s tournament will be sponsored by Oasis Café.
