During the presentation ceremony the officer in charge of the Deposit Accounts Department Mr. Raymond Forde stated that while the annual activity may be seen as traditional, it is unique apart from recognising educational success, which is absolutely important.
Mr. Forde related that the activity also highlights the important fact that the young people involved have started on the path to financial independence by being holders of GBTI Early Savers accounts.
The GBTI Early Savers Club was established in July 1995 with the expressed aim of developing good saving and money management habits in young people. The 11,500 plus members of the club qualify for a wide range of benefits including birthday cards, premium interest rates, discounts at selected stores, prize giveaways and participation in the annual calendar competition. The Early savers members also benefit from GBTI one-time Bursary Awards.
The winners of the Early Savers drawing were: Yasmin Raza, Sarah Sanmoogan and Mahadev Basdeo.
