THE Prosecution, conducted by Police Inspector Telford, closed Tuesday in the narcotic trafficking trial of Desmond Albert, before Magistrate Ann McLennan at Christianburg Court.
Albert has been charged with having 390 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose, at Wisrock, on October 2, 2007.
However, Police Constable Rawle Johnson reported that when he went to collect the exhibits from Mackenzie Police Station, also in Linden, the Station Sergeant informed him that dogs had bitten the substance which was in sealed bags.
Magistrate McLennan asked the defendant if he had any objection to the samples from the Analyst Department being put into evidence and he said no.
But he objected to the bags being tendered, saying he knew nothing about them.
Albert also took objection to the certificate from the Analyst Department and the trial was adjourned to May 13.
Meantime, the defendant is on $100,000 bail set in the high court on July 18, 2008.
