Guyana to defend Bridge title this weekend

THE Guyana Bridge League will be defending their title when they host Suriname and French Guiana this weekend for the Inter-Guiana Bridge tournament which will be played at the Beepat’s residence, Montrose, East Coast Demerara.

According to a release, 30 players from Suriname and French Guiana are expected to arrive in Guyana today for the tournament which will get under way tomorrow.

The Inter-Guiana Bridge tournament is one of Guyana’s oldest sporting events and has a continuous run from 1963 to the present day.

Tomorrow will see players vying for honours in the Open Pairs and Speedball competitions, while on Saturday and Sunday, the Open Teams and Inter-Guiana Championships will be contested.

On Monday morning, the individual competition will be contested, while later that day the presentation of prizes will be done.
