JERMAINE Scipio, 33, of Lot 287 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday refused bail on a domestic violence charge.
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle, before whom he pleaded not guilty to assaulting his reputed wife, Shellon Williams, on April 4, remanded him to prison until April 14.
Particulars of the offence said the defendant unlawfully assaulted the virtual complainant so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said Scipio and Williams used to live together but, that day, when he saw her talking to her ex-boyfriend, he hit her on the face with a piece of sugar cane.
