Murder accused alleges covering up information by police
WHEN the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge of murder against accused Odinga Green, called ‘Dingo’, continued, he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday.

The quick witted accused told CID Assistant Superintendent of Police, Julius Wright, who was an Inspector at the time when he arrested Green, “you are covering up something that this court needs to know in order for me to get justice;” and questioned if the cop was there when he (Green) actually gave his statement to the police, after the cop was in the box on behalf of the prosecution.

Green is accused of murdering Nazaline Mohammed of East Ruimveldt after he took her from her home on February 2, 2007 and took her to Linden where he reportedly killed her at Wisrock.

Assistant Superintendent Wright said on March 6, 2008 at about 18.10 h after receiving certain information he took Greene out of the Mackenzie Police lockups and seated him in the CID Office where he related to him about the allegations of murder and about his rights.

Greene had just been deported from Suriname and then made his first appearance on March 11 last year at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys, where the capital offence was read to him.

Green is to re-appear before Magistrate Ann McLennan on April 29 when the PI will continue. (Joe Chapman)
