BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, (CMC) – Last year’s West Indies Under-19 captain Shamarh Brooks has been named captain of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) President’s XI to face touring England in a two-day match this weekend.
Brooks, a 20-year-old all-rounder, will lead a young side to face England in a two-day match at the Windward Cricket Club Ground on Sunday and Monday.
The local side will also include the promising junior players Kraigg Brathwaite and Jason Holder.
The 16-year-old Kraigg Brathwaite was a standout batsman and tournament MVP in the West Indies team that won the CLICO International Under-15 tournament in May last year.
Holder was captain of the Barbados team to the inaugural West Indies U17 tournament in Trinidad where he was the leading batsman and tournament MVP last December.
Jonathan Carter, Kirk Edwards, Kevin Stoute and Barrington Yearwood, who have appeared for Barbados in the WICB Regional 4-Day championship this season, are also in the squad.
England will use the match as preparation for the third Test against West Indies starting on Thursday February 26 at Kensington Oval.
