U.S. church in massive schoolchildren feeding programme here

HEALING Hands International (HHI) Ministries Incorporated, with headquarters in the United States (U.S.), is actively involved in a massive feeding programme for Pomeroon children.

HHI missionary worker Timothy Williams said the project targets schoolchildren of Abrams Creek and Jacklow in lower Pomeroon and Dredge Creek and Akawini in upper Pomeroon.

He said the objective is to encourage children to attend school regularly and pursue their education towards a better quality of life and the goal is to feed 2,000 a day in Regions One (Barima/Waini) and Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam).

Williams said the ministry plans to bring more persons from overseas to work with children in the Bible School at Charity on Essequibo Coast.

He said his non-profit religious body also feeds 20,000 children in Nicaragua and 7,000 in Haiti daily.

Kerosene shortage hits Region Two
A SHORTAGE of kerosene has hit Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), including Essequibo Coast, since the beginning of the week.

It has caused householders who use the fuel mostly for cooking to revert to the wood fireside.

Checks at several gasolene stations verified that supplies had been exhausted.
