Youth Basketball Guyana school games continue

THE Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) National Schools Basketball Festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals continued last weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Some eleven matches were played on the two days with U-14, U-16 and U-19 male match-ups.
In the Under-14 matches, President’s College defeated Queen’s College in a score of 2-0 due to a walkover.
In the second match, St Stanislaus College defeated Plaisance Secondary School 33-8. Nathan Hackett had 13 points, 19 rebounds and 4 steals and Omario Ganeshbin had 10 points and 6 rebounds for Saints. Kelteen Sampson recorded 4 points.
St Rose’s High defeated Tutorial High 9-7. Jaheem Burton had 4 points and 11 rebounds while Jaden Graig added 4 points and 4 points for Rose’s. Jaden Moses had 3 points and 5 steals for Tutorial.
Marian Academy got past Bishops’ High 22-15. Corey Graham had 7 points, 13 rebounds, Jether Harris had 6 points, 9 rebounds and Ethan Fernandes had 5 points for the Marian side. Timothy Richmond had 8 points and 6 rebounds and Duwone Younge had 2 points and 8 rebounds.
In the U-16 male matches, Bladen Hall defeated Queen’s College 23-22. Joshua Gordon had 14 points and Quacey Shortt turned in 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks for Bladen Hall. Lugard Mohan had 9 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists for QC.
St Joseph High trounced Charlestown Secondary in a blowout that finished 29-8. Shaquavon Gill had 11 points and 5 rebounds while Tahir Meusa had 10 points and 5 rebounds for Joseph. Keoma Henry had all of Charlestown’s points with 4 rebounds.
Plaisance High upstaged Tutorial High 38-23 with Nigel Bowen claiming 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 steals. Andrew Johnson had 20 points for the winners. Zion Gray had 13 points and 3 assists for Tutorial.
In the U-19 games St Joseph High demolished Queen’s College 37-12 with Lemuel Grant and Abevia Perry recording 16 and 8 points respectively. Damani Thomas had 9 points, 14 rebounds and 3 steals while Darnell Green turned in 6 points with 16 rebounds for the losers.
Plaisance Secondary ran Tutorial High out the gym, outscoring them, 88-35. Terrence Daniels had 29 points and Nigel Bowen had 12 for Plaisance. Denzel Logan had 10 points for Tutorial.
In the final game of the night Government Technical Institute (GTI) took overwhelmed Bishops’ High in a complete blowout 92-45.
