Woman denies stealing beverages, groceries

by Sherah Alleyne
CHIEF MAGISTRATE Ann McLennan on Tuesday placed a 33-year-old woman of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara on $ 50,000 bail after she was accused of stealing a quality of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and groceries from her employer.Alicia Brown denied the allegation that between September 29 and October 1, 2016 in the Essequibo River, she stole a quality of beverages worth $189,300 and groceries valued $54,000, property of Lunette Timmerman.

The Police prosecutor did not object to bail. He stated that the accused was employed as a bartender at the owner’s bar. The virtual complainant had placed her in-charge of the items while she was absent.

The matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for October 21.
