SEVEN weeks of football action will climax tonight when the Finals of the sixth Digicel Nationwide Schools football tournament takes place at the National Stadium Providence. In a repeat of last year’s final where Linden’s Wismar/Christianburg Wismar Secondary won 2-1, the Chase Academic Foundation side will have the chance to even the tally from 18:00hrs..
Their technical and clinical style of play under the watchful eyes of national player Vurlon Mills has seen them rise through the rankings and beat a number of top Georgetown teams while there is the argument that they came through an easy zone.

Linden’s Christianburg Wismar secondary will look for its fifth Digicel Schools Football final on the trot.
Linden’s Christianburg Wismar secondary will look for its fifth Digicel Schools Football final on the trot.

Never the less, they have overcome every obstacle that has been thrown their way thus far and are one final hurdle away from claiming their first Digicel trophy.
On the other hand, the defending champions have returned to finals once again.
Every time their back has been against the wall, the defending champions have progressed. They have had their fair share of blowout wins and equally close encounters, even squeezing through on penalties at the play off stage to North West Secondary School (NWSS) at home.
They returned at the semi-final stage produce a rallying win after being down 1-0 to Sir Leon’s, with their equalizing goal coming in the 83rd and the winner coming deep into extra time.
A look at their scoring charts will show that the defending champions have scored 18 goals across six fixtures at a rate of three conversions and it will be no secret that their reliance will be on National u17 forward Omar Brewley as well as Shaquille Campbell, Amar Jones and Antwoine Gill.
Their defensive rate however is one to be astounded by as they have conceded once and it will surely be something they want to maintain today, especially against a team as ruthless as Chase. Ruthless as such that they have found the nets successfully in an astounding 67 goals in six matches scoring just over 11 per game.
Their front trio, a locally crafted MSN, (Messi, Suarez, Neymar) in Kelsey Benjamin, Ryan Hackett and Nicholas McArthur is no stranger to the killer instinct that it takes to win games and their coach Mills has been pounding that point home; goals win games.
Their defensive work-rate has been very tidy as well having conceded twice and while the offensive and defensive odds may be with them, they will be wary of the fact that the defending champions have always dug deep to bring home the bacon.
They each have one million reasons to come out on top, with one team having to $700,000 and the runners-up trophy.
Before that matchup however, third place playoff at 16:00hrs will feature South Georgetown winner Sir Leon Lessons against four time Region #5 winner Bush Lot Secondary.
The third and fourth placed unit will walk away $400,000 and $350,000 and the corresponding trophy. Similarly, $100,000 will be awarded to each zone winner.
