YOUNG faces were aglow with ecstasy yesterday as the Winner’s Cathedral church extended Christmas cheer to children of Sophia, Agricola, North Ruimveldt, Lodge, Durban Backlands, and several other areas where the church has a ministry in teaching the Word of God.Head of the Church, Bishop Juan Edghill Snr., in an invited comment, explained that the annual event is intended to spread Christmas cheer to children. Every Sunday, he said, the church reaches out to children in various communities represented at the party. The Christmas treat, Bishop Edghill said, is done the Sunday before Christmas every year.

Lunch was served to the children, after which they were surprised with presents which were distributed by Bishop Edghill.
“This was done with the support of the members and friends of Winners Cathedral, and this is our way of showing appreciation to the children,” Bishop Edghill said, as he disclosed that close to three hundred children would have benefited from yesterday’s event.

As proceedings came to a close, it was evident that the Season’s spirit had consumed the young ones, who danced and sang happily before departing. (Ravin Singh)
