White Water Village businessman remanded on charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm

A BUSINESSMAN of White Water Village, North West District who was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm was refused bail Tuesday by Magistrate Ann McLennan.Aaron Ramascindo, 28, pleaded not guilty to the charge, particulars of which said on Sunday, April 13 at White Water Village, he inflicted grievous bodily harm to Angelo Poliah.

Police Corporal Dinero Jones, prosecuting, said both men live in the same village and on the day in question the virtual complainant was passing by the defendant’s home with another person. Suddenly Ramascindo’s dog ran out from his yard barking at Poliah.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant came out from his yard and an argument developed which led to a scuffle. He then reportedly picked up a piece of wood and hit Poliah several times to his foot, which resulted in a fracture.
The prosecutor successfully objected to the pretrial liberty of the defendant, citing the seriousness of the offence and the case will be recalled before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on April 23.
