West Indies beaten by Barbados Select XI again

THE West Indies’ poor start to preparing for a One Day International tri-nation series involving South Africa and Australia has continued.A Barbados Select XI beat the West Indies by four wickets in a game shortened to 45 overs-a-side.
Shai Hope, who scored a half century on Wednesday, returned to score 48, while Jerome Jones top-scored with 49.
The two were helped out by useful innings from Kyle Mayers, 34, and Kyle Corbin, 31.
Batting first, the West Indies struggled to get their innings going after Johnson Charles was bowled by Mayers in the first over, after he hit the paceman for two boundaries.
Andre Fletcher was joined by Darren Bravo and the two took the score to 60 before the latter was the next man out, caught at midwicket by Chemar Holder off the bowling of Stefan Gooding for 21, leaving the West Indies reeling at 60-2 in the 15th over.
Fletcher wouldn’t last much longer either after Jomel Warrican had him caught by Hayden Walsh Jr with the score at 68-3.
Marlon Samuels and Jonathan Carter tried to steer the ship out of the mire of mediocrity they had found themselves in, but only managed to get them to 119 before the veteran West Indies batsman was sent back for 33.
At 119-4, the West Indies were in trouble. Carter looked to bat on but his dismissal for 36 to leave the West Indies at 165-5.
There was to be no real recovery as the West Indies collapsed for just 200, with Suliemann Benn contributing an unbeaten 22 at the end.
