Warriors back on top of CPL table after beating Tridents

THE Guyana Amazon Warriors moved back to the top of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) table following a six-wicket win over the Barbados Tridents last night IN fLORIDA

The loss also officially eliminated the Tridents, who will join the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots as teams officially out of play-off contention.Jason Mohammed crafted a stubborn 52 from 44 as the Warriors successfully chased down the Tridents first innings total of 155 for 4.
The Guyana based team’s pursuit of the total got off to a rocky start after Dwayne Smith was dismissed in the very first ball of the second innings.
Chris Lynn, however, brought some stability to the runs chase after joining the team’s other opener Nic Maddison at the crease. Maddison did not stick around long after however as he was dismissed for 16, caught in the midwicket region off the bowling of Imran Khan.
Following his dismissal however, Mohammed joined Lynn at the crease and the pair set the foundation for a solid Warriors victory. Lynn, who cracked 57 from 42 balls was eventually dismissed by Raymond Reifer with the team at 112 and it was Mohammed who took charge.
In their turn at the crease Tridents captain Kieron Pollard top scored with 47 from 36 balls and Steven Taylor added 37, but on a good batting surface it always seemed the team were at least twenty runs short.
The Jamaica Tallawahs could regain their spot at the top of the table, and an automatic place in the final with a win over the St Lucia Zouks today.(Sportsmax.com)
