A MAN wanted by police for the attempted murder of his ex-lover and her male friend was apprehended over the weekend in Lethem by law enforcement, Divisional Commander for the Interior, Ravindra Budram has confirmed.The commander said that through a proactive approach and intelligence gathering, police ranks in ‘F’ Division apprehend the wanted man, Colwyn Croal, 47, known as ‘Alex Croal’.

Budram said that a wanted bulletin was circulated an
d resulted in information being shared within the police networking system.

Croal was wanted by the police for questioning in relation to the alleged shooting of his ex-lover Simone Belle and her male friend Sherwin Hughes on April 3 at Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.

Police acting on information apprehended the wanted man at Tabatinga, Lethem. Hughes of 138 Blueberry Hill and Belle of 102 Half Mile, Wismar, Linden had to be rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex for attention to gunshot injuries.

The suspect who previously shared a relationship with Belle had been observed hiding out in the woman’s yard earlier on the night of the shooting.

Police said that their investigations have revealed that Belle had just arrived home in a vehicle driven by Hughes when shots were discharged at them by a man who is reported to have shared a relationship with Belle several months ago.

According to reports, as Belle and Hughes pulled up to her house, persons who had seen the suspect lurking in the dark, shouted to the driver, “Drive, don’t stop!”

“So dey drive past and de going up the road past the house but the gunman run behind the vehicle shooting at dem. So the driver jump out and run with the gunman in hot pursuit,” another source said.
