Unbeaten Central FC, W Connection clinch semi-final berths

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Trinidadian outfits Central FC and W Connection scored convincing wins on match-day three on Sunday, to finish unbeaten and cruise into the semi-finals of the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship.Playing in Group One in Guyana, Central FC trounced Surinamese side 3-1 while W Connection continued their goal-scoring form to hammer SAP FC of Antigua and Barbuda, 7-2 in Port of Spain.

They were joined in the semi-finals by Montego Bay United who picked up their second win with a 3-0 victory over Haitian side Excelsior in Group Three in Les Cayes while in Port-au-Prince, home side Don Bosco edged USR Sainte-Rose in Group Four to also clinch a spot in the final four.
All four clubs topped their respective groups and will now do battle in the semi-finals on May 22.
Playing at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, Central FC were powered by Ataullah Guerra who scored in either half to finish with a brace.
He opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a left-footed volley before setting up Sean de Silva a minute later, to help the visitors double their lead.
Konata Manning pulled one back for Alpha United on the stroke of halftime with a brilliant free kick but Guerra wrapped up the points from the spot, five minutes from the end when substitute Darren Mitchell was bought down in the area.
At the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, meanwhile, W Connection scored seven goals for the second straight game to brush aside SAP FC.
They were propelled by a hat-trick from Hashim Arcia and a brace from Jerrel Britto, as they put together another imperious performance before their home crowd.
Jomal Williams put the hosts ahead in the fifth before Britto doubled the lead four minutes later and Arcia got his first in the 20th, to make it 3-0 approaching the half-hour mark.
Shahdon Winchester netted in the 26th minute to stretch the lead to 4-0 and Arcia completed his hat-trick with goals in the 43rd and 45th, to give W Connection a runaway 6-0 advantage at the break.
On resumption Tevaughn Harriette (59th) and Steven Roberts (77th) pulled goals back from SAP FC before Britto completed his brace nine minutes from time.
