UITVLUGT Warriors and Stewartville recorded their fourth wins when play in the West Demerara Football Association/STAG Beer Senior League continued at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground, West Coast Demerara.Uitvlugt brushed aside Beavers 4-1, while Stewartville beat Wales United 2-0.
The victories for the two teams take them both to 13 points in the points table but Uitvlugt are placed ahead of Stewartville by virtue of a better goal difference.
Uitvlugt have a plus 10 goal difference after five matches to date, having won four and drawn the other and have so far scored 11 goals while conceding one.
Stewartville, on the other hand, have so far played eight matches and won four, lost three and drawn the other, scoring 13 goals and conceding nine for a plus four goal difference.
In the Uitvlugt versus Beavers encounter, Uitvlugt went into the lead in the 34th minute, compliments of a Beavers own goal and four minutes later, the eventual winners’ Kevin Duke doubled the score which remained unchanged for the remainder of the first session.
Twenty-five minutes into the second period, Duke’s sibling Kevon added to the score and one minute later, Casper Evans sealed the issue.
Meanwhile, Paul Hector and Orette Stephenson scored in the 22nd and 43rd minutes respectively to see their team – Stewartville – to a 2-0 win against Wales United.
Beavers remain at the bottom of the WDFA points standing with one point from four matches, having drawn just one match while conceding eight goals.
Wales United are currently placed seventh with eight points from as many matches. They won two, lost four and drew two, with eight goals for and 11 against.
Den Amstel continue to lead the points race with 19 from seven matches, having won six and were held to a draw in the other.
Pouderoyen are second with 13 points from five matches and a plus 14 goal difference.
