‘Two Feet’ jailed for escaping from lawful custody

DHARMENDRA Sheopersaud, alias “Two Feet”, was sentenced to one year imprisonment after he was found guilty of escaping from lawful custody.

Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh imposed the custodial penalty after listening to the evidence of Woman Corporal Virene Adams at the Albion court.
Police Sergeant Philip Sherriff, prosecuting, had led the witness in evidence who testified that on October 20, 2013, she had arrested Sheopersaud, and taken him to the Enquiries Office at Albion Police Station, where he was placed to sit on the prisoner’s bench.
However, as she was recording his information on the Charge Sheet, the prisoner fled onto the public thoroughfare.
Consequently, she raised an alarm, which alerted one of her peers who ran and captured the prisoner, replacing him into custody.
