Two critical in Providence crash

A ROUTE 42 (Georgetown–Timehri) minibus bearing number plate BNN 9360 last evening slammed into a utility pole at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), leaving two passengers — a male and a female — in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital. The woman, whose arms and legs were broken, is said to be pregnant. It is alleged that at about 21:45hr, the driver of the minibus was speeding, and one of two ‘racing cars’ clipped the minibus, sending it crashing into the utility pole. The front passenger’s side of the bus was smashed in, and a bottle of El Dorado rum, complemented with a bottle of Coca-Cola, was seen on the road where the accident occurred. The driver was reportedly taken into custody and is assisting with investigations.
