Tucville enters South Georgetown Secondary Schools semifinals

TUCVILLE Secondary led by half centuries from Ricky Stewart and Godfrey Phillips, crushed Ascension High by 145 runs to book a semi-final spot in the South Georgetown Zone of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Digicel and Banks DIH.At Everest ground, Tucville won the toss and elected to bat as they amassed 201-5 off 20 overs with Stewart (56) and Phillips (55) top scoring while Brandon Rose took 2-52 bowling for Ascension.
Ascension’s reply was a very short one as they were blown away for 55 in just 11.3 overs. Romeo Brown had excellent figures of 4-12 while Shemieu Gasper and Stewart took two wickets each for Tucville.
Over at Enterprise ground, Cummings Lodge got the better of Apex Academy by five wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, Apex were bowled out for just 69 runs in the 19th over. Mohammed Jumaladeen offered some resistance with 18 not out as Prakash Debidyal tore through the batting line with 4-9 off 4.4 overs and was supported by Reaz Mohamed (3-11).
Cummings Lodge Secondary replied with 70-5 in 11.1 overs. Mohammed scored 18 for the eventual victors while Chandra Mohan captured 3-30.
In the other match played at Enterprise ground, Dequan France’s five-wicket haul led Lusignan to a crushing eight-wicket victory. Taking first strike; Annandale Secondary was bowled out for a paltry 47 in just 8.3 overs as France produced excellent figures of 5-18 off 3.3 overs while Shaun Cudjoe supported well with 2-11.
Lusignan Secondary took just five overs to knock off the target as France returned with the bat to score 17 not out.
Today, Tucville Secondary will battle Charlestown Secondary in the semi-final of the South Georgetown Zone at GNIC ground while St. Joseph’s High will face New Campbellville Secondary in the East Georgetown Zone final at DCC ground.
