T&T launch late bid for CPL final and semi-finals

THE Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final and semi-finals could now be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago despite earlier reports that Guyana had secured the rights to the event.Reports emanating from the Twin Island Republic suggest that a late bid from T&T has prompted the organisers to hold off on making a final announcement. The date set for the final announcement had been April 30.
According to the T&T Guardian the Government of T&T is attempting to stage a last ditch effort to land the game. The CPL has put forward an asking price of US$4.5M to host the final and semi-finals of the event.
Last year the ‘finals weekend’ as it is called was hosted in T&T for the second time in the last three years, this time around, however, their offer of US$1.5M fell well short of the mark.
The Guyanese government it is reported were willing to pay US$2M and they were set to be awarded the final until T&T asked for another meeting with officials, in a last-ditch effort to bring the matches to Trinidad. (Sportsmax.com)
