..carries prize package of $10M

THE expectations are high for the second ‘Real President’s Cup’ Horse Race Meet which runs off today at the Rising Sun Turf Club (RSTC) in Arima Park,West Coast Berbice.The event is hosted in honour of President David Granger and it is organised by the RSTC in collaboration with the Friends of Rising Sun organization.Itis expected to attract a large crowd with appearances from notable government and regional officials.
There are eight races carded for the day with a total prize package of GYD $10m inclusive of cash, trophies and other incentives. According to reports from the venue, all systems are in place thanks to the renovation work done at the ground.
The feature A and Lower 1400m race will see questions answered as to which horse is the best race horse in Guyana. The event has attracted 10 starters,with defending champion ‘Just Call Me Boss’ looking to continue its good showing, especially at that venue
Looking to upset the champ are the likes of the In-form Princess She Is Not, Score Even, C.P Got Even, Jack in My Style, Lady Budapest, Brave Sky, Release the Beast, Plum Plum and the newly imported Light Up Canada running out of the Nand Persaud Karibee Rice stable
The winner is set to take away the hefty $1.2M and the massive President’s Cup trophy, compliments of Trophy Stall, Bourda market.
A winner’s prize of $600,000 and trophy is available for the top horse in the event for E and lower, covering 1400m.
The G class 1400M race is expected to be a close encounter with the winning prize being $400,000 and a trophy. The event for two-year-old Guyana- Bred horses over 1100M will see the winner pocketing $350,000 and a trophy.
Major sponsors include Trophy stall, along with the Government of Guyana, Banks DIH, Nand Persaud and Company, Inshan Bacchus Mining and Trucking Service, Jumbo Jet and Gansham Singh Lumber yard of No 6 village, West Coast Berbice.
Other sponsors include Habla Meat Centre, Rising Sun Cattle Ranch, and the Chester Fried Chicken,Bush Lot, among others.
The Government of Guyana and the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA) have both given their full blessing to the activity.Race time is scheduled for 12:00hrs with a prompt start.
