Three Annai residents died in a horrific accident on Thursday morning, following a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the public road near the Rock View junction in the Rupununi.

Dead are Davis Williams, 43, Belinda George, 58 and her husband Henry George, 60, all of Annai.

The Guyana Chronicle understands that at around 8:00 hrs, a car which was heading from the Coastland, collided with the trio who were on a motorcycle heading to a farm. The collision occurred as both parties were crossing the busy Rock View Junction.

Reports indicate that Belinda George and Davis Williams died on the spot while Henry George died around 10:30 hrs at the Annai Airstrip as he was being prepared for a medevac flight out of the area.

Henry George sustained injuries to his head and feet while his wife’s hands and feet were also broken. She also sustained head injuries. Williams, who was riding the motorcycle, felt the brunt of the impact and sustained injuries to his head, neck and feet.

Mike Williams told this newspaper from Annai this morning that the roadway is usually busy and persons sometimes disregard the traffic laws while driving along the roadway.

The driver of the car is in police custody at Annai while the families of the deceased and the police were in discussion as it relates to the bodies being taken to Lethem for post-mortem examinations.
