Third suspect in brazen America Street robbery remanded to prison

Thirty-four-year old Calvin Johnson also known as ”Gun-Butt” of lot 154 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown yesterday appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman charged for robbery.
It is alleged that on November 3 at America Street, while being armed with a gun, robbed Ryburn Fraser a money-changer of over $1.6 million and Osaffo Ward of $540,000.
After the Administration of Justice Act was applied to the charge the man pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
The facts surrounding this matter stated that on the day in question at about 19:30 hrs. , the defendant and several others armed with guns, committed the robbery of two men and also discharged seven rounds.
It was further stated that on November 16 the defendant turned himself into the police and was questioned and admitted to being in the company of the two other men who were previously charged.
An identification parade was held and the defendant was positively identified by the virtual complainants. A further investigation was carried out which led to the present charge.
Magistrate Latchman remanded the accused to prison and set his next court date for December 1.
Recently, two others – 40-year -old Troy Abrams of West Demerara and 30-year-old Anthony Primo of West Ruimveldt were also charged before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the same robbery. They too were remanded .
