AFTER being shot in the face during an armed robbery at the Chinese restaurant where she was employed on May 27, 2016, Onika Luke has since been discharged from the hospital and the police investigation is still very active.Sleuths said that no one has been arrested for the crime as yet, but the matter is still active.

The injured teen had given the police a description of the shooter, after which several persons were questioned but later released, since there was no evidence.

According to reports, the 16-year-old is not quite herself since the bullet is still lodged in a sensitive part of her body and doctors told the family that it cannot be removed just yet.

She was a part-time waitress at the Lucky Star Chinese Restaurant on the Railway Embankment, Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, when a lone gunman entered the eating house and demanded cash.
Before she had a chance to comply, the gunman shot her to the face and thumb. The bullet travelled to Luke’s throat and until now it is not fully healed, so she cannot speak as she should.

Surgery could not be performed on the teen given the seriousness of her injury and the location of the bullet.
The bandit who reportedly shot the teen entered the restaurant about 22:40hrs on May 27 and ordered a meal, but while paying for it the man allegedly held on to Luke’s hands while she was behind the grilled counter. He then pulled out a firearm and demanded cash and when the teen resisted, the assailant shot her to the chin and escaped.

While trying to box away the handgun, her left thumb was shot off and the bullet was lodged in her throat. She reportedly identified her shooter as a tall man of African descent, who has a tattoo on his neck.
She communicated to the police by writing that the shooter had threatened to kidnap her a few days earlier while she was walking on the road.
