Eighteen year old Ramal Williams lost his life on Sunday when the mining pit he was working on collapsed at Konawaruk Backdam, Potaro.

According to a police report, about about 18:00 hrs, Williams of 58 Miles, Mabura Road, was working in the mining pit when it caved in and he was trapped beneath.

He was later taken out and conveyed to the Mahdia Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigations are in progress.
