Police Prosecutor David Goodridge strongly opposed Essack being released on bail since the accused is currently implicated in a similar matter in Berbice. Goodridge pointed out that Essack was involved in a vehicular accident in 2015 which claimed the lives of three persons, after he had driven his motor car under a station lorry.
The prosecution further disclosed that the dead woman’s daughter, Sheneeza Lewis, was also a passenger in the car and is still in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The mother and daughter were heading to the Eugene F Correia International Airport at Ogle when it is alleged that Essack was driving along the Chelsea Public Road, Mahaica, at a fast rate, lost control of the car and slammed into a stationary lorry.
O’Donovan, who was seated in the front passenger seat died immediately, while her daughter was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the hospital. Essack did not receive any injuries. He was remanded to prison until September 13.
