WITH much pomp, the Supple Singh’s Roti Shop has opened its doors to the Guyanese public, offering some of the most delectable cuisine ever available here.

This restaurant, which is located at the corner of Carmichael and New Market Streets, Georgetown, has been marketing its exquisite range of food and services to the public for approximately one month.
In an interview with the Guyana Chronicle, the Manager, Ms. Soraya Arjune and Marketing Manager, Ms. Sarah Arjune explained that although it has been almost a month since they have opened public feedback on the wide range of foods offered have been very positive.
Singh’s offers a wide variety of creole foods as well as those of other cultures such as Italian and European-type foods.
Their menu comprises items such as fried rice and noodles – served with chicken, beef, prawns etc. pizza, sandwiches, burgers, sub-sandwiches, soups, salads and other appetisers.
Like all creole restaurants, Singh’s prepares all types of curries which are available daily, these include potato, fish, chicken, beef, goat, mutton, curried gillbackers and on special days, crabs.
These delicacies are served with rice, roti or dhal puri and a wide array of beverages – both local and imported.

However, Singh’s Roti Shop prides itself most on its breakfast offerings, as it is the only place in Georgetown that offers original Indian-type food for breakfast. This includes, pumpkin, bhaggie, ochro, corilla, bhaigan choka, tomato choka, fried aloo (potato), stewed cabbage, soya chunks and vegetables, salted fish and bake, smoked herring and bake, pepper pot, boiled and fried provisions and porridge.
Other specials include pelau, original Trinidadian doubles, roast duck, chicken/fish and chips, BBQ, dhal, wantons etc.
The manager explained that the food is authentic in every sense of the word. She said despite the fact that the cuisines may be customarily spicy the “spiciness” could be moderated to suit the desired preference of customers’ tastes.
At this restaurant, customer satisfaction is of paramount importance, and the manageresses noted that they maintain excellent service and high standards at all times to ensure their customers always return after the first visit.
