SUPERBET brings sport betting to Guyana : … looking to expand to local sports

FROM the Barclays Premier League in England to an International Cricket Council (ICC)-organised T20 or limited overs tournament, sports lovers in Guyana now have the opportunity to not only support their favourite team, but also place a wager of their choice on that team’s chances of either winning or losing or drawing the encounter. This has been made possible, thanks to SUPERBET who, through their local franchise holder Guiana Holding Incorporated, yesterday, launched their services to the Guyanese public with a simple ceremony held in the Woodbine Room of Cara Lodge Hotel in Quamina Street.
Speaking at the launching, Operations Director Martin Subero said the sister company of SUPERBET, Y-SEC IT was founded seven years ago in Suriname and has recently been able to use locally developed software and expertise, allowing for its progress as an independent wholly owned company.
“SUPERBET is the newest addition to the Pasha Gaming Group, with operations in Uganda, Cyprus and Belgium, bringing with it, 12 years of expertise in the betting industry across the globe, having several operations in Suriname as well,” said Subero.
He added, “SUPERBET will offer the opportunity to place bets on regional and international games, such as cricket, football, lawn tennis and basketball; in a way that gives players an affordable, simpler reliable and fun way to win. The company plans to increase its portfolio of games and betting variables as time progresses.”
According to Subero, bets on football games will only cover the 90-minute period of that contest, hence no provisions is made for extra time or penalty kick results.
“We will be covering football, cricket, basketball and tennis across the globe, including all major tournaments such as La Liga, Barclays Premier League, NBA, Wimbledon and even an international T20 or one-day fixture.
SURIBET in Suriname and SIMBABET Limited in Uganda all fall under the Pasha Gaming Group and very soon, SUPERBET will be rolling out an extensive chain of retail agents, allowing players the convenience of multiple locations with the option of also enjoying customised gaming centres across Guyana,” stated Subero.
Quizzed on what feasibility study was undertaken by his company before they commenced their operations in Guyana, Subero said they saw a love and passion for sports by the Guyanese population over the past year and they decided to pitch in, by giving Guyanese a chance to not only support their favourite teams, but also gain from doing so.
“There will be a 24-hour game monitoring support system in place, bringing new games on offer to the public, who will have the privilege of placing a bet five minutes before that game commenced and also draw on same, 15 minutes after it has finished.
Our aim is to develop the local sport betting business, making it into a world class operation with best fixed odds, best prize payouts per dollar, while in the long run we will be giving back handsomely to the revenue of the country.”
He said they presently have a team of 12 under their employ but over the next year, that number can be increased to 60, increasing their returns to the revenue of the country to 96%, with 85% of that going back to the players in winnings, while they have a full online communication system that is being powered by Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T).
Subero said his company will also be looking at expanding to local sports –as they have done in Suriname –  in the not-too-distant future, but such a move would depend on the credibility of the players involved.
Added to such, in the same manner in which SURIBET NV in Suriname gives back to the country by sponsoring a tournament with the Suriname Football Federation, SUPERBET will be throwing its weight behind the local sports fraternity, by sponsoring a tournament in one of the many sports disciplines in Guyana.
At the conclusion of the launching, those in attendance were given the opportunity to witness and also receive a free ticket from one of the electronic point of sales systems.
