THE Botanical Gardens, one of Georgetown’s popular recreation parks, yesterday drew hundreds of people who were entertained by several steelbands as part of the Ministry of Education’s programme to celebrate Education Month.

under the theme: ‘Literate by Grade Four through consistent home, school and community involvement’.
Led by school and band instructors, steelpan music pulsated through the cool afternoon from the Bishops’ High School, Panwave Academy, North Ruimveldt Multilateral, Buxton Steel Orchestra, St. Roses High, West Demerara Secondary and the lone primary institution, North Georgetown Primary School.
Meanwhile, the greatly-anticipated event attracted hundreds of people from all walks of life who evidently enjoyed the musical flavor of the afternoon. (Ravin Singh)
