Sponsors on board Four Horsemen Promotions Golden Jubilee horserace meet

HORSE racing will be a big part of Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations as the Four Horsemen Promotions will be staging a `50th Independence Horse Race Clash’ on May 22 at the Port Mourant Turf Club.To date, a number of companies have already come on board for the event and among them are: Peter Lewis and Sons Associated Construction Limited, Banks DIH Limited, Delmur Company Limited, South Land Company Limited, P&P Investments Limited, Latchman Mohabir and Attorney-at-Law N. Poonai.
According to the organisers, also of note is that the trophies for the activity have been sourced from overseas.
The feature event will be for horses classified A and Lower over 1900 metres with the winner receiving $1.5M and the Golden Jubilee Cup from a $2.8M purse that is up for grabs for the top four places.
The other events listed are the 1400m race for D3 Maiden and E and Lower horses for the $750 000 prize money.
There will also be a 1200m race for horses classified F and Lower with the winner carting off $320 000 and a trophy.
Three-year-old West Indies-bred horses along with local G3 and Lower horses will compete for a $350 000 first prize purse over 1200m.
The H3 Maiden and I and Lower animals will compete over 1000m for a first prize worth $250 000.
A first prize worth $200 000 will be up for grabs in a 1200m race for Guyana-bred three-year-old horses.
The final race for the day will be a 1200m race for horses classified K and L and Lower horses with a first prize of $170 000 at stake.
