A GUYANA Defence Force soldier was on Wednesday granted self-bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared in court charged with stealing a mobile phone from a 13-year-old schoolgirl.It is alleged that Nahaise Jones of ‘B’ Field, Sophia on May 22, at Kitty, while being with another and armed with a broken bottle, robbed a 13-year-old secondary school student of her mobile phone.
Jones, who is attached to G2 Unit of the GDF, was unrepresented and denied the allegation. The soldier was placed into the custody of his commanding officer and the matter was transferred to Magistrate Annett Singh’s court for June 2.
