altDubbed the biggest sporting party, the tournament was contested by six Caribbean nations, with players coming from international teams.
As the official spirit of the tournament, DDL was allowed to host promotions to reward El Dorado cricket fans as well as to get them excited about the tournament.

Winning the trip to Trinidad was very simple. Consumers were required to purchase either an El Dorado 12 or 15-Year-Old Super Premium rum, place their contact information on their receipts, and place that in the entry boxes provided.
The promotion began on 5th August and concluded on 20th August, with several hundred persons participating. Mr. Narine Ramroop was adjudged the winner of that promotion.
Winners of the promotions each received two airline tickets, accommodation at the Hilton Hotel, four cricket tickets, and spending money. They departed Guyana on August 23 and returned on August 25.
