GUYANA’S three-member team captured four silver and two bronze medals after the individual categories in the Caribbean Badminton International Open Under-19 Championships (CAREBACO) concluded on Sunday in Aruba.Narayan Ramdhani captured two silver in the Boys’ doubles and Mixed doubles and a bronze in the singles event. His sibling, Priyanna Ramdhani captured a silver in the mixed doubles) and a bronze in her singles event.
The other Guyanese participant, Jonathan Mangra, was the holder of a bronze medal.
In the final played on Sunday, Narayan Ramdhani and Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Shae Martin and Amanda Haywood of Barbados: 21-9, 21-16 in Mixed doubles.
In the Boys doubles final Narayan Ramdhani and Mangra lost to Shae Martin and Keshem Moore of Barbados in a thrilling three-setter with Guyana winning the first set 17-21 and losing the other two sets 21-15, 21-19.
Meanwhile, the Ramdhanis, along with Mangra and Ambika Ramraj, will participate in the Team events which commenced yesterday.
Guyana are placed in Group B, with Barbados and Aruba while Group A consists of Dominican Republic, Suriname & Trinidad & Tobago.
