Security Guards shot as gunmen invade Movie Town

Gunmen early Thursday morning pounced on two security guards at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.

Details are sketchy at this time, but the Guyana Chronicle has been reliably informed that the guards were shot in the legs, when the gunmen stormed the Movie Town work site.

Those wounded are Stanley Brown from Mahaica and David Burrowes of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Reports indicate that nothing was stolen and the men are receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital. The Guyana Chronicle will provide more information as it becomes available

Chinese contractor, CHEC, had signed a US$30M deal in Trinidad for the construction of the Movie Town complex. The agreement, between China Harbour and Derek Chin, Chairman of Movie Town Cineplex, includes the construction of entertainment facilities, restaurants and commercial space.
