Search for missing woman at Kaieteur extended down river

THE search of the Kaieteur National Park and its environs has extended down river for a missing woman, who was part of a guided day tour on Tuesday via Air Services Limited.The woman who has since been identified as Laleta Sivanand is said to be in her early 40s and resides in the city.

Since the incident, all tours to Kaieteur National Park has been suspended as a team from the Police Force, National Parks Commission Rangers, GGMC officials and Guyana Defence Force continue the search.

Minister of Tourism Cathy Hughes said that, as at 14:00hrs yesterday, additional people were sent in to assist in the search and they remain hopeful in locating the missing woman.

She was at the time speaking at a press conference ‘Yachts’ Rally party at the Ministry’s office on Camp Street yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the missing woman’s facebook page said she worked at Laparkan Group of Companies and there was no recent post to her timeline.

A visit to the woman’s house did not yield any further information since relatives refused to speak to the media.
