Screwdriver lodged in man’s neck – teen remanded

MAKING his first appearance before city Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday was 18-year-old Akeem Dazzle of Lot 173 Campbell Street, Albouystown, indicted on the charge which alleged that he wounded Jamal Nichols with intent to commit murder
According to Dazzle’s lawyer Mr. Clyde Forde, his client was making his way home when he was attacked by a group of men who caused him to receive lacerations to his head and hand and gashes to his right foot. Nevertheless, he defended himself with a weapon against one of the men, who happened to be the virtual complainant.
However, prosecutor Kerry Boswick objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offence, adding that the wounded man was in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital with the weapon still lodged in his neck.
The magistrate refused bail, remanding Dazzle to prison until December 1 when the matter will be called again.
