ST MARGARET’S Primary and No. 5 Primary recorded victories in the WICB/GCB/Scotiabank Kiddy Progression One Cricket today.At the Racquet Centre ground, St Ambrose won the toss and decided to take first strike and were restricted to a moderate score of 111-8 in their allotted 14 overs. Mark Orford showed resistance with 19.
In reply, St Margaret’s found themselves in some early trouble at 25-3 in the third over before Shameer Haynes came to the rescue, scoring 29 not out amidst the fall of another two quick wickets. Haynes then found an ably partner in Michael Morgan who hit 17 not out as the two saw their team to victory, finishing on 116-5 in 8 overs.
In the other match played in the West Berbice District between N0.5 Primary and No.8 Primary, No.8 Primary won the toss and sent No.5 Primary to bat first. No.5 Primary were able to compile 93/4 wickets from their quota of 14 overs, with Travis Layne hitting 26 runs which included five fours, and Michael Jupiter contributing with 18 runs not out. Four bowlers for No.8 Primary took a wicket each.
In reply No.8 Primary could muster only 88/6 off their allotted 14 overs, with Alwin Pile making 24 which included four fours, while Roy Bethune chipped in with 18 runs. No.5 Primary won by six runs.
Matches continue tomorrow in the North Georgetown zone at the Racquet Centre ground with St Agnes Primary taking on Al-ghazali Islamic Academy.
