wife Pamela Kendall, alias ‘Pam’, on August 20 at #45 Village, Corentyne Berbice.

The remorseless Sookchand stood in the prisoners’ docks relaxed during his court proceedings, and did not utter a word. He was remanded to prison, while his matter was adjourned until September 14 and transferred before the Whim Magistrate.

Sookchand reportedly had traces of gunpowder on his hands after he was brought to the Criminal Investigation Department in Georgetown for questioning because his statements regarding the shooting death of his reputed wife were riddled with inconsistencies.

Police investigations have further revealed that Sookchand had been deported to Guyana after serving time in jail for cocaine and violent crimes.

Kendall, a cash crop farmer, was shot in her face in her home located near the Number 45 Village Public Road during a power outage in the area on August 20.

The woman had managed to run from her home, only to collapse in her brother’s yard, located a few houses away. She was taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
