AGRICULTURE Minister, Dr Leslie Ramsammy, has put to rest assertions that he will not be returning to the political arena due to his ill health with an emphatic, “I am coming back.”In an invited comment, he told the Guyana Chronicle that he plans to hit the campaign trail in support of the ruling Party’s re-election to office.

“I will be home shortly and I will campaign as hard as I can for the reelection of Donald Ramotar and the PPP/C. For those who are speculating that I will not return to campaign, I am sorry I will have to disappoint them,” he said.
According to him, the speculations over his return to the political arena reflect a “mischievous attempt” to misinform the Guyanese public.
“I want to state categorically that I am a part of the PPP/C, and I am and will be campaigning vigorously for the re-election of Donald Ramotar as President and PPP for a majority Government,” he reiterated.
Ramsammy has served with the ruling party since 1997 and prior to being appointed as Agriculture Minister, served as Health Minister for about a decade – years of service that earned him the distinction for being one of the longest serving officials in that capacity. In the last few weeks he has been overseas seeking medical attention for an existing health condition.
“The report of my demise, and my early departure is grossly exaggerated,” he concluded.
