THE private sector and the Guyana Police Force ‘A’ Division last Wednesday donated the ‘best’ awards trophies to the St. Anne’s Primary School in Agricola, to help the school in its graduation exercise for Grade Six pupils who recently concluded their National Grade Six Assessment (NGSE) examinations.
The Graduation ceremony was attend by former ‘A’ Division Commander, Assistant Commissioner George Vyphuis; ‘A’ Division Traffic Officer, Superintendent Calvin Brutus; Officer in Charge of sub division #2, Deputy Superintendent Khali Pareshram; Inspector Debra Small; and representatives from Church’s Chicken, Digicel Guyana and NAMILCO.
Guest speaker was former Commander Vyphuis, who commended the students for the hard work they had put out, and urged them to work for what they wanted to become in life.
“Be serious about life, sports and education,” he admonished. “Be religious, respectful, and truthful to yourselves. I urge you all, as students, not to fall in the categories of drug abuse, peer pressure, and child abuse among other things. Life is a gift and also a challenge, so you all need to cherish it,” the former commander told the students.
The school’s headmistress give a huge ‘thank you’ to the various sponsors — the Guyana Police Force, Church’s Chicken, Digicel Guyana, NAMILCO, Yams Liquor Store, Adventist Community Service, Programme Agricola Village, the Andrews Family and the Arjoon Family, for making the school’s graduation a success.
She urged the sponsors to continue supporting the school, because the school was one of only three schools whose performance increased by 25 percent at this year’s exams.
