People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Parliamentarian, Dr Clive Jagan has officially resigned from the National Assembly.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Barton Scotland, who noted that the resignation took effect on February 10, 2016.

The National Assembly will now have to fill Dr Jagan’s seat; however it is not yet clear who the PPP will choose from its list of candidates. Dr Jagan has been absent from Parliament for a quite a while now and reports indicate that he is ill and receiving treatment overseas.
