Porknocker to face murder charge in businessman’s death
THE police have apprehended the prime suspect in last Sunday’s murder of a 55-year-old businessman at Four Miles, Port Kaituma, North West District.The man, who has been identified as a 37-year-old porknocker from Five Miles, Port Kaituma, is expected to face the charge of murder today at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing Ramsammy Narine of Best Village, West Coast Demerara.
Police said in a release yesterday that investigations have revealed that the suspect and his friends were drinking at a shop at the interior location owned by the deceased, when they were asked to leave but refused.
At that, an argument ensued, and the suspect reportedly left, only to return with an arrow, with which he fatally stabbed Ramsammy.
It was also reported that an accomplice of his had also doused Narine, a father of five, with gasoline, before the other man stabbed him.
Narine reportedly moved to the area earlier this year, after purchasing the business from his brother.
