weekend sessions at the primary school in the area.
The group of women represent single mothers, the unemployed and school dropouts. He told the women and the man that at the end of the sessions they will be in possession of skills which can assist them in being self-sufficient in order to earn for themselves.
The encouragement was also given to the gathering for them to push towards working together and explore the possibility of establishing their own community catering service at the end of the training. Hicken stressed that there will be continuous training for the young people to make them competitive with the rest of caterers countrywide.
The commander said that as the programme goes along, other persons would be added as the objective is to get all the young people from the community of Agricola to channel their energies in areas which are not contradictory to the laws of Guyana.
The first eight weeks of the training will among other things focus on the preparation of appetizers, cakes, pastries, salads, desserts, beverages and cookies. There would also be a graduation exercise upon the completion of the programme.
The participants will also be decked out in their uniforms for the training by the Guyana Police Force.
