POLICE Corporals 17045 Lambert Peters and 21335 Winston Williams of the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) have successfully completed a Physical Training Education and Instructors’ Course held at the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, from January 6 to August 15, 2015.
According to a police press release, the course was organised by the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and was attended by over 70 members of the Defence Force, Police Force, Prison Service and Fire Service from Guyana, Trinidad and other Caribbean countries.

The programme was intensive, and saw certified physical-training instructors involved in activities such as first aid; combat and physical training that included obstacle-crossing, endurance-training, river-crossing drills, rapelling, orienteering and combat-swimming; and physical-training education that included aerobics, nutrition, gymnastics, sociology in sports, injury-rehabilitation and strength-training.

The modules included concepts of fitness, diet and performance, sports medicine, sports management, sports officiating, teaching practice and skill analysis

The two ranks are expected to bolster the Police Force’s Wellness and Physical Fitness programme which commenced earlier this year.
