PI into murder of female taxi driver set for May 27

THE Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the February murder of a female taxi driver off the Soesdyke-Linden highway, allegedly committed by a labourer of Yarrowkabra was set for commencement on May 27. 

The accused Sylvester ‘Rambo’ Bristol made another court appearance yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
The PI date was set after Police Corporal Bharat Mangru informed the court that all investigations regarding the matter are completed.
Bristol who appeared in court on February 18 last was not required to plead to the charge, particulars of which said that between February 15 and 16 at Soedyke, East Bank of Demerara, he murdered thirty-one-year-old Savitri Palmer.
The accused is not represented at present by an attorney-at-law.
Palmer’s body was discovered in a clump of bushes two miles from where her vehicle had been found at the back of a resort on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway. The woman reportedly left her Soesdyke home at about 20:30 hrs on Saturday night with the intention of dropping two persons at a loam pit in Timehri, and had taken along her son for the ride.
