Pensioner in court for allegedly severing man’s hand

ON Thursday, a resident of Berbice was remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates Court for allegedly severing another man’s arm during a fight. Raymond Fredricks,77 of Plant Site Kwakwani Park, Berbice, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge which read that on Saturday, June 27 at Kwakwani Park, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kellon Vandenberg with the intent to maim, disfigure or to cause him grievous bodily harm.
The prosecution revealed that Vandenberg had his hand amputated and is currently critically hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital. The magistrate remanded the accused to prison and transferred the matter to the Kwakwani Magistrates Court for July 15.
